A Hundred Years From Now
A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.

The Teaching Gene
Today a group of my friends and I went out for lunch. I was telling them about my new job at a day care. One of the guys asked me how severly I could discipline children. They all started joking around about how they would handle children misbehaving. A lot of their ideas would make any teachers jaw drop. My friends are not bad people. They would do anything for anyone. But I could just see the difference between us. It really made me realize the kind of person it takes to be responsible for a room of 25 children. Any one of them could take the classes I have and are taking. Any one of them could pass those classes. But I can almost guarentee that not one of them could ever survive pre-internship, let alone internship!! They don't have that special something; the teaching gene.

hey jenna..
i agree with that. ive had that convo with many people since i started working in daycares 2 years ago. People tend to not really realize what u need to put into it. Ive even had friends tell me theyd just lock the trouble kids in a room till their parents got back to pick them up. and to me its not even funny to joke about that unless im in the situation and am joking bout it with my coworkers at the time. its a bit much. just letting you know i feel ya!
